SCARBOLO XL PINOT GRIGIO 2018 FRIULI
Skin-fermented Pinot Grigio, a technique that has a long history in Friuli and the resulting pink wines are called “ramato” or copper-tinged. The grapes originated from the Mattia vineyard were destemmed and crushed and the wine was fermented on the skin for 12 days in stainless-steel tank at 18C. It was aged for eight months on the lees in stainless steel, followed by 15 months in 20-hk Slavonian oak casks.Translucent copper pink. Beautiful nose of the wild strawberry, orange blossom, and with hints of Campari and liquorice. Citrus peel, grapefruit and cherry and finely textured.Fine acidity stitches the whole together. Not to be confused with so-called “orange wine” which this isn’t.

LE VIGNE DI ALICE
Cinzia Canzian makes this wine as a homage to her grandmother, who, in the days before the glera grape came to dominate Prosecco production, used to blend glera with two other local varieties, boschera (better known by its synonym verdicchio) and verdiso. The wine is dry and flowery, lively and charming. Artisanal, grower Prosecco that speaks of the grapes and soil, from vineyards at the base of the Dolomites.
Alice’s Brut Nature style was the first in the Prosecco area to really get the attention of sommeliers and wine lovers looking for something to pair instead of Champagne, and it is still considered one of the best.
